How does the evaluation process work?

You schedule a private appointment, bring your items and we evaluate everything together. We identify each item, assess its precious-metal content and explain what we find as we go. At the end we provide a written offer based on current market values. The entire process is transparent — you'll know exactly what each item is and why it has the value it does.

Do I need to sort or organize my collection before I come in?

Accepted Answer

No. Bring everything as-is. You don't need to sort, clean, identify or organize anything in advance. We'll go through the collection together and identify each item. Many of our clients bring items in boxes, bags or drawers exactly as they found them.

Question 3

How long does an evaluation take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the size of the collection. A small collection of a few items may take 20–30 minutes. A larger estate collection with coins, jewelry and silverware may take an hour or more. We don't rush — we take the time needed to evaluate everything properly and answer your questions.

Question 4

Is there a cost for the evaluation?

Accepted Answer

No. The evaluation is completely free. There is no charge to have your items evaluated and no obligation to sell.

Question 5

Do I have to sell if I come in for an evaluation?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely not. There is never any pressure to sell. You can accept our offer, decline it or take time to think it over. Many clients come in just to find out what they have. The decision to sell is entirely yours.

Question 6

How do you determine what to pay for gold and silver?

Accepted Answer

We base our offers on current precious-metals spot prices — the live market price for gold and silver — along with the weight and purity of your items. For coins, we also consider numismatic (collectible) value where applicable. We explain every number so you understand exactly how we arrived at our offer.

Question 7

Can I get a second opinion on your offer?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and we encourage it. If you want to take our written offer and compare it elsewhere before deciding, you are welcome to do so. We are confident in our offers and have no objection to you verifying them.

Question 8

Do you pay more for rare or collectible coins?

Accepted Answer

Yes. When a coin has numismatic (collectible) value above its precious-metal content — such as a key-date Morgan dollar or a high-grade early U.S. gold coin — we factor that into our offer. We evaluate both melt value and collectible value and pay accordingly.

Question 9

How do you pay — cash, check or something else?

Accepted Answer

We pay by cash or check depending on the transaction amount and your preference. We'll discuss payment method at the time of your appointment.

What kinds of items do you buy?

Accepted Answer

We buy gold coins, silver coins, gold and silver bullion bars and rounds, gold jewelry (all karats), sterling silver flatware and hollowware, precious-metal watches and complete estate or inherited collections. If you're not sure whether we buy something, just ask when you schedule your appointment.

Do you buy broken or damaged jewelry?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Broken, bent, missing stones or otherwise damaged gold jewelry still has precious-metal value. Condition affects the collectible or resale value of a piece but not its melt value. Bring it in and we'll evaluate it.

Question 12

Do you buy silver-plated items?

Accepted Answer

We do not buy silver-plated items. Silver plate is a base metal (usually copper or brass) with a thin coating of silver — it has very little precious-metal content. We buy sterling silver (.925) and coin silver (.900) only. If you're not sure whether something is sterling or plated, bring it in and we'll check.

Is my transaction private and confidential?

Yes. Your appointment and transaction are completely confidential. We do not share your information, advertise your business or discuss your transaction with anyone. What happens between us stays between us.
